USA

  • American Welding Society. As well as information on benefits of membership of AWS, details are given on certification activities, publications including Standards (some can be ordered online), information on the AWS show, a list of AWS Sections, software for download or purchase, information on welding as a career, a searchable online buyer's guide to welding equipment and consumables, and contact details for AWS staff. A calendar of events relevant to welding is presented. Includes a searchable index to Welding Journal from 1922 with online ordering of reprints. Bulletin boards and chat-rooms cover education, technical queries, certification, equipment and jobs. Details of the latest issues of Welding Journal, American Welder and Inspections Trends are available. Offers the AWS Buyer's Guide.
    Information is offered on the Welding Equipment Manufacturers Committee (Wemco).
  • Edison Welding Institute describes its products and services and the joining technology areas it is involved in. Their newsletter, Insights, is available online.
  • Fabricator & Manufacturers Association, International
    Find everything you need to know about existing and emerging metal forming and fabricating trends and technologies.
  • Hobart Institute of Welding Technology emphasize their training and certification services. They run a 'job bank' where employers can post vacancies for free. They have an online Quarterly Newsletter and a welding quiz.
  • iWelder.com collates links to websites of potential interest to welders. Last updated February 2000. Uses Frames.
  • SME - Society of Manufacturing Engineers
  • The Navy Joining Center (NJC) is a USA national resource committed to developing, deploying and disseminating materials joining technology to the US Navy, its contractors, and US industry. The NJC is operated by the Edison Welding Institute. Their web pages present their newsletter and information on projects in progress and give details of workshops.
  • The Ohio State University Department of Industrial, Welding & Systems Engineering gives details of their undergraduate, graduate and research programmes, staff, events and links to other welding web sites.
  • Team.Net Shop Talk Web offers a brief Introduction to Welding Processes & Equipment for amateurs.
  • TPJ - The Tube & Pipe Journal
    A leading educational association serving the tube and pipe industry
  • Welding & Metal Fabrication magazine from dmg world media.
  • WeldingJobs.com is an online service for those seeking or offering welding jobs in the USA.
  • Woodhead Publishing offer books, charts, videos and other publications on welding and joining, including those published in association with TWI as Abington Publishing. Uses Frames.
  • Steelynx welding links presents an extensive list of sites categorised as US non-profit, US government, international, academic, commercial and publications.

 

Australia

  • The Welding Technology Institute of Australia presents information about the WTIA services and expertise, a catalogue of products available though the WTIA, information about the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Materials Welding and Joining, a list of IIW members, a searchable database of welding personnel in Australia and links to other welding information sites.
    It includes OzWeld, an Australian industry support network involving key industrial and technological organisations with expertise in welding, joining, testing and related activities.

 

Canada

  • Canadian Welding Society offers brief information on the organisation and advantages of membership.
  • The CWB Group, previously the Canadian Welding Bureau, briefly describe their certification and training activities, list Standards and other publications available from them, and offer an online database of certified, companies, products and personnel. In English and French.
  • Welding Canada gives information about its magazine plus full text of all 1996-2000 issues. They also offer a bulletin board and a mailing list.
  • Welding Products Manufacturers Association of Canada describes activities; list members and Canadian events.
  • University of Waterloo , Canada, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering describes their undergraduate courses and research in welding and joining.

 

China

  • China Weldnet gives information on welding companies in China and the China Welding Association. In Chinese with some pages in English (N.B. some English navigation links lead to blank pages). Uses flashing text and much colour.

 

Denmark

 

Europe

  • European Welding Federation describes the organisation, activities and publications. The latest newsletter is available online. Uses Frames and Flash animations.
  • The International Institute of Welding offers information about its aims and activities. IIW document titles are listed by publication year and Commission (IIW working unit). See also the UK IIW pages.
  • The University of Bath Advanced Welding and Joining Unit Home Page is also the website of the American Welding Society in the UK.
    The AWJU is part of the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath (UK). Details of research activities and courses at the University are given. A list of British and European Standards related to welding is presented.
  • (TWI) The Welding Institute - world's most extensive on-line resource on welding, brazing, soldering, mechanical fastening, surfacing, coating, adhesive bonding, fabrication, non-destructive testing, structural integrity and fracture of steels, non-ferrous metals, plastics, composites, ceramics and textiles. Applications covered include aerospace, automotive, construction, defence, electronics & sensors, medical, off-highway, oil & gas, power, rail and shipping.

 

France

  • Institut de Soudure The French Welding Institute offers information about its activities, services, publications and membership, and provides details on the applications of welding. In French and English (English front page not viewable in Netscape 4.5; OK in MS-IE5 and Netscape 6).

 

Germany

  • DVS-Verlag GmbH (Verlag für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren DVS-Verlag GmbH) offer information on the journals, software, videos, guidelines, standards and books that they publish. Includes contents listings and abstracts for der praktiker in German only; for Schweißen & Schneiden and VTE Aufbau- und Verbindungstechnik in der Elektronik, titles and abstracts of technical articles are in German and English. Site mostly in German. Uses Frames.
  • Institut für Schweißtechnische Fertigungsverfahren RWTH-Aachen (Welding Institute, Aachen University, Germany), gives details of their areas of research, staff, courses, publications and events. In German and English.

Italy

  • Italian Trade Commission (ICE) - ICE is a public agency with a worldwide network of offices. The Trade Commission's mandate is to promote trade, industrial and technological cooperation, and to disseminate economic information on Italy.
  • Italian Institute of Welding describes its services to industry, laboratory facilities, education, certification, library and publications. Uses Frames. In Italian and English.

 

Japan

  • Asian Technology Information Program - ATIP offers several free services, including report abstracts, conference listings, and technology seminars.
  • Japan Welding Society offers information in Japanese. Links to news, indexes to Journal of the Japan Welding Society and Quarterly Journal of the Japan Welding Society, information, publications, research and Welnet (Young Member's Network) are offered.

 

Netherlands

  • Nederlands Instituut voor Lastechniek , the Netherlands Institute of Welding, is in Dutch and English and offers the following: information on the organisation, their research projects, Dutch regional welding groups, what will appear in their Lastechniek journal next month, vacancies, welding activity calendar, online ordering of publications, demonstrations of welding software (for downloading), a list of approved schools providing welder training and access conditions for EWF-standard training, and a list of people authorised to issue NIL welders approval tests.   • Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade describes the organisation, their training courses and publications, contents listings and abstracts from their journal 'Tecnologia Qualidade', features on CAD and ISO 9000, and information on ISQ's activity as an Innovation Relay Centre.
